A little kale hummus creation. Not the best picture in the world but I’m sure you get the idea. Haven’t named this one yet. What should you call this?
In a food processor throw 1 can of rinsed chickpeas, 1 large handful of raw kale, 1 garlic clove, 1/3 cup olive oil, 1 tbsp sea salt, 1 tbsp cumin, juice of 1/2 of a lemon. Press play. Stop when it looks not chunky. Eat with raw veggies or whatever you like to dip with these days.
Simple wrap feat tomato, avocado, spinach, tricolor quinoa & sun dried tomato hummus in a sprouted grain tortilla.
Cook 1 cup of tricolor quinoa - 1 cup of quinoa to two cups of water. Bring to a boil in a small sauce pot and then let simmer for 10-12 minutes once water is boiling. When that is done drizzle in some olive oil and some salt. Let that cool for a little. (Maybe make some of this up before hand.)
In an Ezekiel sprouted grain tortilla (Trader Joe’s) throw down some sun dried tomato hummus (or whichever spread you like) then 1/2 or all of an avocado, 1 sliced tomato, a handful of spinach and a few spoonfuls of your cooked quinoa. I used tricolor quinoa - also from Trader Joe’s. Wrap it all up and enjoy. Create your own wrap and share it with us!
This little plant contains substances that are useful for stimulating the immune system, increasing circulation, and improving digestion. Also adds delicious flavor to your food and beverages as I’m sure you already know.
Going to get a lot of use out this plant. Trader Joes has lots of different herb plants for very cheap. I recommend picking some up!
Post work out smoothie feat. Kiwi, kale, celery, banana, mango, blueberry, lemon juice & water.
In blender throw in a handful of frozen mango and some frozen blueberries. Add 1 ripe banana and 1 whole kiwi (cut in half) Next toss in 1-2 large pre washed stalks of celery and a handful or two of kale. Pour in cold water up to about 1/4 of the blender. Squeeze in the juice of 1 lemon and blend away. You can add or subtract things, it really doesn’t matter — go with what you like.
We are finally having some rain here today in Los Angeles, which calls for staying inside and being completely useless. Hoping you all get to enjoy your weekend and get in some good relaxation time. Remember: rest is equally as important as exercise. Have a great weekend.
The leaders of the pack. Gabby & Justin at Mt. Baldy. These two lovely people and some other friends invited me to come along with them on their hiking trip the other weekend. Minus being sick as a dog, I had a great experience getting to know some awesomenew people and enjoying a beautiful hike.
Take a look at this article on the Art of Manliness about how to never underestimate a hike. I’ve done that a few times and it’s not enjoyable that’s for sure. This particular hike was fairly modest, but I did underestimate the length a little bit.
